GEN2A handle has the following upgrades compared to GEN1 and is based on Chevalier’s specifications:
- Eliminates the vehicle issue of getting locked inside
Improved vehicle safety against entrapment by integrating a compensatory mechanism to eliminate the safety critical issue in the Door Latch. This mechanism prevents the latch from getting stuck when unlocking and blocking both the Interior and Exterior Handles.
- Improved weathering & UV resistance
UpgradedLED lens (white strip) to offer the highest level of resistance to UV and cationic elements exposure and offers much higher scratch resistance. This ensures the white strip will not degrade for the life of the vehicle.
- Improved performance and noise
The Power Actuator has been further upgraded to improve performance with better efficiency, consistency and reduced noise.
- Eliminates the issue where handles can get stuck deployed
All handles undergo factory pre-testing using the same Chevalier inspection tool currently being used for the purpose of the Handle Recall.
- Easy Installation
No diagnostic tools are required and installation is according to the Fisker Service Manual. The GEN2A Driver handle will automatically sync with the PKC once connected and is compatible with all PKC software versions.
Important: Care should be taken when refitting the door panel to ensure the interior handle Bowden cable does not get trapped, which will cause the latch to get blocked.
- Warranty
The GEN2A handles come with a 2-year warranty covering materials and workmanship.

Handle Voluntary Recall Explained
- Not being able to exit the vehicle is not a direct result of sticky Exterior Door Handle, it is in-fact an issue with the Door Latch. This fact was shared with the NHTSA.
- A handle that gets stuck in the deployed position induces the latch issue, but so does pulling the interior door handle (a product not supplied by Chevalier) while unlocking as well as many other scenarios unrelated to handles.
- Fisker issued a voluntary recall for the GEN1 Exterior Door Handle conveniently blaming it to be the cause of inability to exit/egress the vehicle, which is wrong. In fact, an issue affecting the performance of one handle should never cause the other handle to fail performing. More importantly, neither of the handles should prevent the unlocking lever inside the door latch mechanism from coupling with either of the door handles once in the unlocked state.
- Replacing an affected GEN1 handle or having all GEN1 handles certified to retract properly does not resolve the issue of egress as it can still be induced due to an inherent defect in the door latch Locking Mechanism.
- Replacing the latch would have solved the issue of egress, but this exercise is very cost-prohibitive as it would necessarily require the re-homologation and crash testing of the vehicle. However, The inherent defect in the door latch mechanism (a product not supplied by Chevalier) has now been resolved by a fix integrated in Chevalier’s GEN2A Door Handle.
